Daniel Czitrom: "Jacob Riis's New York"

Syracuse University Library Associates presented a lecture by author Daniel Czitrom on "Jacob Riis's New York". This lecture took place Thursday, March 19, 2009 in the Peter Graham Scholarly Commons, Bird Library on the Syracuse University campus. Czitrom spoke about his book “Rediscovering Jacob Riis”, which offers a fresh look at the Progressive era social reformer, journalist, and pioneer photographer who publicized the conditions of the desperately poor in turn-of-the-century New York. Czitrom is professor of history at Mount Holyoke College. He is the author of Media and the American Mind: From Morse to McLuhan (1982) and co-author of Out of Many: A History of the American People (6th ed., 2008).
