Farmer-Herder Conflict in the Ashanti Region of Ghana: Is There an End in Sight?
Ecosystem degradation, competition for access to limited resources, and conflict over land and water are critical environmental challenges affecting peoples’ livelihoods, communities and societies. Cases of farmer-herder conflict over land and water are widespread in sub-Saharan Africa and there is an urgent need to find lasting solutions to these conflicts. A pilot study aims to understand land conflicts and promote collaborative problem-solving among different stakeholders, locals, NGOs and government authorities in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
