Tessa Murphy, Associate Professor in the department of History and a Spring 2023 Humanities Center fellow, discusses her current project, "Slavery in the Age of Abolition." The project uses slave registries from nineteenth-century British Crown colonies in order to reconstruct the life histories and genealogies of people enslaved on the expanding frontiers of the British Empire in what is commonly referred to as the age of abolition.
