With the goal of democratizing archival knowledge housed in relatively inaccessible, elitist institutions, the–So Be It; See To It: An Archiving Project-a community-based project in Syracuse, N.Y.–uses archival work and speculative fiction literature to map our current selves, spaces, histories, and futures. By engaging the Octavia E. Butler archives at the Huntington Library, and developing this initiative to engage with such work this research, this project bridges histories, selves, and communities. This of particular importance to Black women whose histories have been disproportionately subject to mainstream erasure, and who have had limited literary depictions of self.
