U.S. Constitutional Democracy in a Post-Trump Era
In this talk, Professor Keck will reflect on some of the key damage to U.S. constitutional democracy wrought during the Trump administration, as well as the institutional reforms necessary to repair that damage.
Thomas M. Keck is the Michael O. Sawyer Chair of Constitutional Law and Politics. His research focuses on constitutional courts and the use of legal strategies by contemporary political movements on the left and the right. He is the author of The Most Activist Supreme Court in History and Judicial Politics in Polarized Times, along with articles in the American Political Science Review, Constitutional Studies, Law & Society Review, and Law & Social Inquiry. He is currently leading a long-term, collaborative investigation of free speech jurisprudence in democratic and democratizing countries around the globe, funded by the US National Science Foundation and the Carnegie Corporation.
